This game is a game that originated from the ancient times in Egypt from a game called “Senat” which was later on known as “Ludus Duodecim Scriptorum” meaning “Twelve Lines on a Board” during the roman age. Later on, some time around 500 AD, the game was named “Tabula”, a Latin term which means table.
During the first century AD, the game entered England that evolved into a more modernized version of the game. It was banned by the church because of its gambling nature but the ban was lifted after a certain period of time. It was in the year 1645 when the game was called Backgammon while the inclusion of the double cube into the game was introduced in 1920. This made the game more appealing to the public and gained even more popularity over the years.
At present, this game is played not only in casinos but also in casino sites extending a broader market and huge participation of gamers around the globe.
